Treo Batteries

Many Treo owners buy a additional normal or high capacity Treo battery or an Treo extended battery. They're useful for two reasons:

1. If your existing battery runs out you can simply swap the batteries and carry on
2. On short trips and even daily use you don't need to carry around a charging solution

Since Treo models do not necessarily share the same battery size avoid the hassle of returns and potential for confusion by choosing a store that provides a filter that will only show you products compatible with your Treo or Centro.

So what kinds of Treo batteries can you get?

Treo Battery

In addition to the stock Palm battery that comes with your Treo you'll find a variety of Treo batteries from 3rd party manufacturers, of which Siedio is probably the best known, that are the same physical size as the original Treo battery but of a higher capacity.   In fact, the highest capacity (but same physical size battery) provides 40% more power and therefore time than the standard Palm battery (the Siedio 2400mAh for the 700p vs the stock Palm 1800mAh).

With newer Treos and Centros, stock battery capacity has fallen to fit the newer, thinner form factor.  Unfortunately there has not been a proportional drop in device consumption rates leading to greater need for either higher capacity stock form factor batteries or extended batteries.  For these Treos we highly recommend a higher capacity battery at the very least to avoid the battery-out-blues when you're just about to go out for the night...the day after you last charged it!

Treo Extended Battery

Extended batteries are extended for two reasons the main being that they have substantially higher capacity, 100% higher in some cases, than the stock battery delivered with your Treo;  the second being that they require an extended battery cover as they are simply larger physical objects than the stock batteries.  Most of these batteries come with a cover but check to make sure it's the right color especially if you own a 680 or Centro

It's clear the trade off is longevity between charger versus additional size and weight.
